Evidence intake for law firms

Screenshots and video in.
One dated record out.

Verin Legal gives every matter its own email address and its own phone number. Your client forwards and texts from the phone already in their hand — no app, no account, nothing installed. What comes back is dated, deduplicated, rebuilt into conversations, with every screenshot and video described in plain words, and filed to the matter as a document in your case management system.

The work nobody bills

Somebody at your firm is already doing this. They're just doing it by hand.

Clients send evidence the way people send things — a burst of screenshots by email, photos and videos to a paralegal's cell phone, and four hundred more items two weeks before the hearing. Renaming, dating, removing duplicates and rebuilding a thread by hand is real work at a real hourly cost, and almost none of it survives the bill.

$41,760
Absorbed every year by a six-attorney firm
60 matters · 8 hours each · $145 an hour

That is the portion never billed, or billed and then written down. Change any input to your own in the worksheet below — and if the answer comes out against us at your volume, the worksheet will say so.

ANNUAL INTAKE LABOR · $69,600 $27,840 billed & collected $41,760 absorbed — you eat this WHAT VERIN LEGAL TAKES OFF THE DESK $29,232 reclaimed at 70% still yours Verin Legal, at the standard rate, costs $11,940 a year.

How it works

Three steps, and only the first one involves your firm.

The reason evidence software fails is almost never the software. It is that the client never adopts it. Verin Legal takes the client out of the adoption question entirely.

01

You open the matter. Verin Legal issues the channel.

A dedicated intake email address and phone number, created for that matter and nothing else. You hand the client a card with two lines on it.

02

The client forwards and texts, for as long as the matter runs.

From whatever device they already own. No download, no login, no training, and nothing for your staff to support at 9 PM on a Sunday.

03

It comes back as a record you can work from.

Hashed and timestamped on arrival, then dated, deduplicated and threaded. Every screenshot and video gets a plain written description, and speech in a video is transcribed. Then it is written back to the matter as a document in your case management system.

On integrations. Write-back to Clio, MyCase and Smokeball is live. If you run another system, tell us which one.

What's different

Four things — and no one else does all four.

Every one of these is a place where the tools around us stop. Together they are the difference between a folder of evidence and a record.

One

A channel per matter, not an app per client.

The most common reason evidence software fails is that the client never adopts it. Verin Legal removes the client from the adoption question entirely — they use email and text, which they already use.

rowan-k7q2xf@intake.VerinLegal.com
+ a dedicated number, issued per matter
Two

Screenshots and video, read and described.

Forty overlapping captures of the same thread become one conversation in order, duplicates removed, each message attributed, and every place the images do not join marked as a gap. Every screenshot and video clip also gets a plain written description of what it shows, and speech is transcribed, so your team can find what matters without opening every file.

40 conversations from 900 items
every image and clip described · cited to its source file
Three

Integrity fixed at the moment of arrival.

Each item is hashed and timestamped the second it lands — before anyone at your firm or ours touches it — and entered into a per-matter chain. Receipts are immutable. You can show when a thing arrived and that it has not changed since.

SHA-256 at receipt · RFC 3161 timestamp
per-matter hash chain · write-once storage
Four

It lands in your system, not in ours.

The finished chronology is written back to the matter as a document in the practice management system you already run. Nobody at the firm logs into a second tool to find the file, and nothing depends on your staff remembering to export.

What went in, and what came back.

The same eight months of a custody file. On the left, items as the client sent them. On the right, the record Verin Legal produced — dated, sourced, and cited to the image each entry came from.

Where the other tools stop.

Good products exist on either side of this problem. What none of them do is take material from a client who will not adopt anything and give it back to you as a filed record.

What it costs to cover the whole firm — sixty matters a year

Verin Legal
$11,940
All sixty matters. Unlimited users, every practice area you run, one invoice.
Hearsay
$21,000–33,000
All sixty — if the client brings in a phone to be cabled for each one.
TextEvidence
Not published
The published $149 tier covers roughly twenty-five of the sixty.
CaseFleet
$2,880–13,440
Organizes documents a lawyer has already collected. At eight users.

Bars are drawn to the top of each published range; CaseFleet is genuinely cheaper and does a different job. Sticker prices are not comparable here, so we do not quote them — a $79 or $149 tier is priced per case or per upload, ours is priced per firm. At sixty matters a year Verin Legal works out to $199 a matter, or $119 at the founding rate, and covers every matter you open rather than the ones you decide are worth paying extra for.

Worth it?

Put your own numbers in.

The same worksheet we walk through on a call. It counts reclaimed labor only — no assumption about better outcomes, faster settlements, or work you win because of it.

Return on the subscription at your numbers. It shows up in the first month, on every matter, and does not depend on a case ever being contested.

Defaults are the midpoint of what small firms have told us. Move them. If the ratio drops below 1× at your volume, the worksheet will say so plainly — we would rather you saw that here than found it in month three.

Pricing

One price for the firm. Nothing is ever billed to your client.

Unlimited matters, unlimited users, every practice area you run, one invoice. No per-upload fee, no per-case unlock, and no charge that lands on a client's statement.

What Verin Legal does not do

It does not practice law.

Verin Legal offers no opinion on admissibility, authenticity or completeness. That judgment is yours and the Court's.

It does not recover or unlock.

No deleted data, no device extraction. If a matter needs that, you want a forensic examiner — and we will say so.

It does not guess.

Unreadable items are flagged for a person rather than interpreted. Reconstructed conversations cite the images they came from.

Next step

Send us one closed matter. We'll show you the same before-and-after on your own material.

Twenty minutes, a matter that is already closed, no live client material and no confidentiality question. You will see exactly what your file would have looked like, built from what your client actually sent.

What we need from you
  1. One closed matter where the client sent a lot.
  2. The material however you have it — a folder, an export, a thread.
  3. Twenty minutes on a call to walk the result.

Closed matters only. We do not need live client material to show you this, and we would rather not have it.

Every matter, conversation, figure and exhibit number shown on this page is illustrative and composed from representative work — no real client material appears here. Competitor pricing and capabilities were verified from published materials in September 2026 and are re-checked quarterly; where a competitor does not publish a price, we say so rather than estimate one. Verin Legal does not provide legal advice.
